This mug is wheel thrown from a beautiful, midrange porcelain. After the mug dried the state was cut, slipped, scored, and attached and pulled handle was added. Once the mug dried, the mug was bisque fired in the kiln. A shiny blue glaze was poured inside, the state was painted with a few layers of an eggplant purple glaze and the outside was glazed with a thin layer of clear. The mug returned to the kiln a second time for a cone 6 (about 2232F) firing during which the silica in the clay and glaze vitrified and turned to a permanent, durable gloss.
This mug can be made to order with another image on the front or a different glaze inside. If you would like to customize, please leave a note at checkout and allow 2 to 3 weeks for shipping.
