Shiny and dull, glazed and unglazed, purples and tan invite you to drink from this mug.
Wheel thrown from warm, tan stoneware. Pulled handle was added at leather hard stage. Once the mug dried, it was bisque fired in the kiln to cone 04 (about 1945F). Two different purple glazes were layered inside and allowed to drip down the front. The tan clay at the base was left raw for contrast. The mug returned to the kiln a second time for a cone 6 (about 2232F) firing during which the silica in the clay and glaze vitrified and turned to a permanent, durable gloss.
