This mug is wheel thrown from a warm, tan stoneware. After the mug dried the white slip was applied to the outside and the pattern was painted in underglazes. A pulled handle was added and the mug was bisque fired in the kiln. A green glaze was poured inside, and the outside was glazed with a thin layer of clear. The mug returned to the kiln a second time for a cone 6 (about 2232F) firing during which the silica in the clay and glaze vitrified and turned to a permanent, durable gloss.
This mug can be made to order with another pattern on the front or a different glaze inside. If you would like to customize, please leave a note at checkout and allow 2 to 3 weeks for shipping.
